Zinc, a key trace mineral, is found in almost every cell of the human body and stimulates the activity of approximately 100 enzymes. Zinc serves many roles in the body like immunity, gene expression, protein folding, enzyme function, and wound healing. Zinc deficiency depresses both innate and adaptive immune responses and inadequate zinc levels increase the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
